Refreshingly lively
An interesting encounter with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra under the direction of conductor Stefan Vladar, who was in particularly brilliant form on this day at the Brucknerhaus in Linz. In the Brahms Sextet, Op. 18, in the version edited by Günther Pichler, the finely-tuned and forward-striving dramaturgy of movement was spell-binding. There was also enthusiastic applause for the world-renowned Japanese cellist who reached for the stars with bravura in the cadenzas of Boccherini’s cello concerto. An exquisite evening!
