CD-Review: Ravel - Piano Solo (PIANO NEWS, Germany, March 2016)

Stefan Vladar interprets ”Le gibet” hauntingly as well as with impressive clarity and vehemence. After these gloomy atmospheric pictures ”Jeux d’eau“ offers sparkling refreshment. Vladar displays brilliance and great subtlety in the Sonatine and the Pavane. The two ”à la manière” compositions - Ravel’s personal commentaries on the music of Borodin and Chabrier - round off the recording. Here too Stefan Vladar proves to be a pianist whose fine interpretive sense and loving attention to detail make Ravel’s music enthralling audio experiences.
